The small town of Figueres attracts tourists from around the world as it is host to a truly unique attraction, the Dalí Theatre-Museum. More an ´experience´ than an art gallery, it is guaranteed to be enjoyed by all, even those with the least interest in art.
Born in Figueres, Salvador Dalí was the most eccentric and exuberant artist to come out of Spain and specialised in his own unique form of surrealist art, using any type of material in his works. Within the museum you will be surprised by objects as varied as cars raining on the inside and an apartment installation composed of Mae West´s facial features, alongside more ´conventional´ murals and surrealist paintings.
The building itself can be considered a work of art, adorned with giant eggs along its exterior walls, indicating the bizarre nature of the content within. Any visitor to Barcelona that can spare a day out of town should not miss it. Extremely popular in the summer, be prepared to queue…
