Each district of the city has its own food market and the area of Sants is no exception.Virtually tourist-free and thoroughly authentic, the market of Hostafrancs is located in an 1888 Modernist structure. The iron building was designed by the same engineer that built San Antoni market in El Raval, Antoni Ravira i Trías, and is an attractive building in what was originally another working class district of Barcelona.
All the usual suspects can be found in the food market, from every kind of meat to whichever vegetables are in season and it is the best place to do some traditional style shopping if you are staying nearby.
