The Monumento Colon, or ColumbusMonument, is a high column at the port-end of Las Ramblas. On top of the column is a statue of the great discoverer Christopher Columbus. His arm is outstretched, pointing the way to America.
The monument is over 51 metres tall, with a statue of 7 metres. It was built in the year 1886, and designed by Gaieta Buigas I Monrava.
A lift at the base of the monument goes up to the viewing gallery, offering excellent sea and city views. It is open from 9am to 8.30pm from Monday to Sunday.
