GIRONA AIRPORT
Many visitors to Barcelona choose to fly to Girona, a small town which is located about 100km to the north of the city, rather than fly directly to Barcelona. Cheap airlines such as RyanAir often offer exceptionally good deals flying to Girona and it is definitely worth looking into if you are travelling on a budget. However, please be aware that your travel time will be extended by a couple of hours.
Bus: By far the easiest way to get from Girona airport to the centre of Barcelona is by the airport bus, operated by a company called Sagalés. Buses depart from the airport from 8.05am-11.40pm and are scheduled to leave according to RyanAir flight arrivals. The journey takes between 60-90mins depending on traffic. Buses arrive in Barcelona at the Estació de Nord; the nearest metro station is Arc de Triomf (L1), or you can easily catch a taxi to your final destination. Leaving from Estació de Nord for the airport, buses depart at regular intervals (3.30am-7.15pm), but are very popular during the summer months and it is worth bearing in mind you may not always get on the first bus so leave plenty of time! Price: €12 one way, €22 return.

Train: There is no train station at Girona airport, so it is first necessary to catch a bus from the airport to the station in the centre of Girona. This takes between 20-25 mins and costs €2.50. The train to Barcelona Sants takes approximately 1 hr 15 mins, and costs €6.45. Trains leave Girona twice an hour from 7.13am-10.36pm, and from Sants to Girona from 7.23am-10.42pm. Taking the train from Girona into Barcelona is not really the most sensible way of getting to the city, although if you are planning to spend the night in Girona town before leaving on an early flight the following morning, taking the train there from Sants is the best option.
Taxi: Taxis can be caught from a taxi rank just outside the airport terminal. A taxi from Girona airport to the centre of Barcelona will cost approximately €115. A journey to Girona city centre is about €18.
