Les Corts was originally a small village on the outskirts of Barcelona but was swallowed up by the city during its huge expansion at the turn of the century. It is mainly a residential area with no major tourist attractions, save one of huge importance to football fans.It is home to the Nou Camp, the largest football stadium in Europe, with massive capacity of 98,000 supporters. It is FC Barcelona´s home ground and an essential stop for any sports enthusiast whilst they are in town.Home games are generally played alternate Sunday evenings; tickets are bought from the stadium. If the game is sold out it is worth making a trip to the stadium anyway; footie fans can enjoy the museum and a guided tour of the pitch and facilities.
The two nearest metro stations to the Nou Camp are Maria Christina (L3) or Collblanc (L5), and the stadium is about a 10 minute walk from each. The open-top tourist buses all have the Nou Camp as a stop on their routes.
